What is So Cal Boot Camp?

So Cal Boot Camp is a group fitness program that includes top-notch fitness instruction, nutritional coaching and motivational training, all designed to get you in the best shape of your life in the shortest time possible, regardless of your current fitness level. Our proprietary training formula utilizes cutting edge methods that allow our clients to build lean muscle, improve core strength, lose weight quickly, and shed body fat. Think of it as personal training in a group setting. Our fitness program combines cardio, resistance and core training, in a Heart Rate Based Interval Training (HIIT) format. We also provide one-on-one personal training for both kids and adults. How many locations do you have?

So Cal Bootcamp has two locations serving Southern Orange County. We are located in Dana Point (at Monarch Beach by Gelson’s Market) and San Clemente (Rancho San Clemente Area). Once you join, you can choose from more than 100 boot camp classes at either location each week! Both locations offer certified personal trainers, nutrition counseling and circuit training workouts that include resistance training, cardio and core strength. What is the minimum age requirement?

We provide personal fitness training at any age. If the bootcamp instructor allows a younger client to participate in boot camp, between ages 14-15, the person must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the workout and the guardian must sign all necessary paperwork. Ages 16 and over may attend on their own, after a parent provides a completed and signed registration and waiver form. What is the purpose of the heart rate monitors?

Heart rate monitors help our clients lose weight, improve fitness conditioning and stay safe while working out. Going harder and faster isn’t always the best way to reach fitness goals, so we provide a way for our clients to measure their efforts.

To get maximum results, you need to listen to your heart and train at the right intensity. Exercise can be divided into different intensity zones, each with corresponding health and fitness benefits. With your heart rate monitor, you always know which zone you are in with a quick glance at the TV screen. This challenges you to either increase intensity, maintain intensity or back off intensity.

A heart-rate monitor can be a helpful tool in different training methods, but especially with High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) training. Tracking your heart rate with a heart rate monitor tells you precisely how hard or easy your heart is working directly reflecting your progress and results in boot camp. We can provide you with a Heart Rate Monitor (HRM) at each of our locations.

By monitoring your intensity, you can optimize the effectiveness of your training session and accomplish more in a shorter amount of time. Immediately after your workout, you’ll receive your results in a graph form on your phone app, giving you individualized progress report of your boot camp class. If you would like further real time information, you can also use the Polar Loop, which is a water proof 24/7 activity tracker that integrates with your Polar Heart Rate Monitor.

What kind of help can I get with Nutrition?

We offer 3 different nutrition programs. The Take Down Lifestyle is our one-on-one nutrition coaching program and you may start this program along with bootcamp at any time. Our Take Down Challenge is our 4 week Biggest Loser Style weight loss challenge. The Game Changer Challenge is our members only 6 Week Body Transformation Challenge. You need to be a So Cal Boot Camp member to be eligible to participate. Below is a comparison chart to help you decide which program is the best fit for you.

What is a goal setting session?

You will meet with our one of our fitness coaches to discuss your goals pertaining to your diet and general health. This is usually done during your first week of Boot Camp. A goal setting session is also a time when you will be able to discuss membership options and how to continue working towards a healthy and active lifestyle with us.

COMMON CONCERNS

Will I be able to participate if I have an injury?

If your physician has cleared you for exercise, you may attend Boot Camp. All of the exercises we offer during our workouts can be modified to fit your fitness level and accommodate a minor injury. Boot Camp is not a competitive environment and you are not expected to keep up with anybody else or do any activity that you don’t feel comfortable with. If you are concerned about whether you can participate in our boot camp workouts due to an injury or physical limitation, schedule an Introductory Ramp Up Session to meet with our Nationally Certified Training Manager. This class doubles as a consultation and evaluation with our team. When you arrive, be sure to let your trainer know about your injury so he or she can keep an eye on you and show you exercise modifications that will work for your body.

What if I haven’t exercised for a while and I’m out of shape?

Most clients that come to us ARE out of shape. That’s why we are here to help change that! You will not be left behind or asked to complete any activity that is more difficult than what you are able to complete SAFELY. No matter what your current fitness level is, we can modify each exercise to your level. Whether your goal is to lose weight, tone your muscles, get rid of some unwanted body fat, gain strength or just get healthier, we are here to deliver results to you. You will NOT be put on the spot, be embarrassed in any way or put in a competitive situation. We encourage you to take the first step and come to our Introductory Ramp-up Session to meet our friendly fitness team. At your Introductory class you will be introduced to our Heart Rate Based Interval Training workout, and taught how to perform each exercise correctly and safely. Our highly qualified training team will work with you to ensure that you feel comfortable, and know how to perform each exercise correctly. And remember, this is a 100% Positive Energy Zone. You will not be judged or made to feel uncomfortable in any way – we’re just here to help!

Am I too old to attend?

We have Boot Camp members of all ages that are in great shape and love our workouts. If your physician has cleared you for vigorous exercise and you have no major injuries or health conditions, we would love to have you join us. All of the exercises you will perform during our circuit training workouts can be modified to accommodate your current fitness level.

What if I can’t attend all the days offered?

It is ideal to attend boot camp 3 to 6 days a week. You don’t need to attend every day to see results. We offer over a 100 boot camp sessions per week and the workouts are different each day and each location, so we have the time and availability to fit your busy schedule.

Do you offer child care?

We are an adult focused facility and do not currently offer child care. Many of our Boot Camp members have children and have utilized one another to assist with babysitting. At So Cal Boot Camp, we are a community, and we always support each other in our fitness goals!

May I bring my child to watch while I work out?

We are an adult focused facility and do not currently offer child care. Safety is always our main focus. That’s why we ask our clients not to bring children as they will not have the proper supervision during a Boot Camp session. We want to make sure that our clients and their children are safe, and that there are no distractions during our workouts that could lead to an injury.

GETTING STARTED

How do I get started?

All new clients must attend our mandatory Introductory Ramp-Up session, offered at both of our locations. Please call us to schedule your Introductory Session at (949) 218-2267. 

At your Introductory workout, you will be introduced to our Heart Rate Based Interval Training workout, and taught how to perform each exercise correctly and safely. Our training team will work with you to ensure that you feel comfortable, and know how to perform each exercise correctly. After attending this class, you may register yourself for any of our 100+ Boot Camp sessions during the week. After you complete your Introductory class your next step is to attend your Goal Setting Session. Get Started Today.

What do I need to bring?

Make sure you are wearing comfortable workout attire and athletic shoes. Please bring a towel, water and a smile!

Can I pay per workout or just when I come?

Yes, you can pay per workout if you prefer. Our drop-in-rate for one Boot Camp session is $25. We do have discounted rates available with membership.

Can I join the camp any time of the year?

Yes, you can join the fitness program at any time –it runs continuously year around.

YOUR ONLINE ACCOUNT

How do I login to my account?

You can access your account directly by clicking Member Login. Enter your email address and password. If you do not already have a login, you may create one the first time you visit. Please note, if you attended an ‘Introductory Ramp Up class,’ we will make you a login using the email address you provided on your registration form and our standard password. If you have forgotten your password, there is a link you can press to send you a temporary one. Please give us a call at 949.218.2267 if you are having trouble logging in. Be sure to download our free app from the app store for Apple or Android for faster class scheduling and to participate in our rewards program.

Why am I being asked for my credit card info upon logging into my account?

You will only be asked for your credit card information the first time you log into your account. The system requires a credit card in order for users to register for Boot Camp classes. We will never charge your credit card without your prior consent.

How do I register for classes online?

Login to your account and click on the “Schedule” tab to see the list of classes for the week. Click “Sign Up Now” next to the class time you would like to register for. You will not be able to sign up for classes if we do not have a credit card on file for you. If you are using the app, log in and pick your class time and click “book class.” If your schedule changes, please make sure to cancel your class. (See below)

How do I cancel a class I have registered for?

Login to your account and find the “My Info” tab. Then click on “My Schedule” and select which class you would like to cancel. You may also use the app to make any of these changes, simply by going in and clicking on that same class, now highlighted in yellow. Click ‘Cancel Class.’ Remember, appointments you make with yourself are important – try to keep them. If you do have to miss a workout, try to find a time to make the class up during the week. If you are unable to access your account online, you may call us at 949.218.2267 to cancel your session.

What is the Boot Camp class schedule?

There are more than 100 classes scheduled each week. The workouts change every single day and they are different per location. The workouts never repeat so boot camp is always fresh, new and exciting. See the complete class schedule at our San Clemente & Dana Point locations.

How long is a Boot Camp workout?

You will start with a 15-minute dynamic warm up and cardio section followed by a 40-minute circuit training workout that includes resistance training, cardio and core training. We finish the workout with a 5-minute cool down and stretch. Our workouts are scientifically proven to provide fastest results in the shortest time possible. Come see for yourself!

What kind of results can I expect to achieve?

By attending our Boot Camp classes regularly, you can expect to drop inches and pounds while becoming more fit and toned. On average you’ll drop 3-10 lbs, 1-2 dress sizes, and 2-5% body fat during your first 30 days of completing our workouts. How often can I attend Boot Camp?

You are welcome to attend unlimited number of classes with us, but for best results we recommend coming to Boot Camp at least 3-5 days a week. Remember, if you miss a workout, you can always schedule a time to make it up. Once you start seeing results, you will probably end up working out almost every day because being healthy, fit and the positive energy is addictive – and so is seeing real change in the mirror!

What are your membership rates?

Our Drop in rate is $25 per Boot Camp workout session. Rates go down to $8 to $12 per session if you decide to become a member. Rates vary depending on the length of your membership commitment. Our shortest membership option is month to month.
